This trainee opportunity provides an excellent career development opportunity for Early Learning and Childcare professionals to progress within a managerial role. We are looking for candidates that are qualified to SCQF Level 8 in a relevant subject which also meets the SSSC ‘Practitioner’ registration requirements. Candidates will require to demonstrate a commitment to completing a SCQF Level 9 Qualification to meet the SSSC and Care Inspectorate ‘Manager’ registration requirements. This qualification will be fully funded by the Council, and the successful candidates will be fully supported by the Council to obtain the necessary skills, abilities and knowledge to become fully competent in the role.

Brae High School is a non-denominational school located in Brae. It provides early years, primary and secondary education up to S6 for children from the north mainland of Shetland. The structure of the school is Early Years, P1-P7 which includes composites, and S1-6 classes. There is currently a total of 329 pupils on the roll. Secondary – 174, Primary – 123 and Nursery – 32. The school is managed by a Head Teacher and 2 Depute Head Teachers. The current Head Teacher is Logan Nicolson. * Salary shown in the advert is inclusive of Distant Islands Allowance of £2,859 per annum (pro rata)
* Permanent Full Time post for 37.0 Hours per Week, 52.18 weeks per year
* Preferred candidates will be required to join the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update prior to a formal offer of employment being made
* The successful candidate will have to complete registration with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) when they begin in post
