Temporary maternity leave cover for 6 months. Pay will be dependent on experience in accordance with Mid Yorkshire Medical Secretary Career Pathway. Candidates with 2 years of prior medical secretary experience may be eligible for a Senior Medical Secretary position (Band 4).
Key Duties
* Act as a central point of contact for patients, carers and healthcare professionals, handling calls, enquiries and sensitive communications professionally.
* Manage appointments, clinics, referrals, cancellations, waiting lists and theatre schedules.
* Handle medical records consistent with policy and support timely management of test results and reports.
* Produce and proofread confidential clinical documentation and ensure accurate communication with relevant professionals.
* Maintain databases, collect data, support audits, and prepare documentation for meetings and MDTs.
* Provide general administrative support such as email management, filing, scanning, minute‑taking and diary coordination.
* Ensure compliance with data protection, confidentiality and governance standards.

* Prioritise workload effectively, maintaining accuracy and timeliness.
* Support colleagues, cover absences and assist other services if required.
* Participate in service development, quality improvement and policy feedback.

Qualifications
* Level 3 qualification (or equivalent experience) in Business Administration/Medical Secretarial work.
* GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English.
Experience
* Secretarial and administrative experience.
* Experience of working with filing systems.
* Computer software proficiency (Microsoft Office, e‑mail and Internet).
* Experience of scheduling/coordination activities and/or resources.
