Supplier Quality Engineer
Due to continued growth, we are looking for an experienced Supplier Quality Engineer to join our established quality team. Raytec has a large supplier network, most of which are based in the North East of England.
Location
The role is based at our Head Office in Ashington, Northumberland.
Reporting to
This role reports to the Head of Quality.
Working Hours
This is a full-time position working 08.30 - 17:00 Monday-Thursday, 8.30-2.30 Friday. Some travel is involved, so additional hours may be required.
Purpose of the Job
* Ensure the quality, reliability, and compliance of externally sourced components and materials.
* Manage supplier performance and drive continuous improvement to meet industry standards, customer expectations, and regulatory requirements.
Duties & Responsibilities
* Collaborate with Purchasing/Sales team to research, source, and assess the best vendors.
* Visit vendor facilities, observe manufacturing environments, and audit procedures according to ISO 9001:2015 and Raytec’s standards.
* Perform regular quality audits to ensure ongoing compliance.
* Assess incoming supplies and products, ensuring quality standards are met.
* Conduct tests and assessments on products to identify quality issues.
* Maintain KPIs on Supplier Quality, including PPM, OTIF, and overall performance.
* Provide technical advice to reduce defect rates and improve quality.
* Serve as liaison between Raytec and its supply chain.
Person Specification
Essential Skills
* Proven experience in a Supplier Quality Assurance role.
* Skills in Supply Chain Management.
* Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 and its application.
* Extensive Lead Auditing experience.
* Experience with manufacturing, production processes, and engineering principles.
* Excellent communication and liaison skills.
* Strong IT skills and data manipulation proficiency.
* Excellent statistical analysis and QA skills.
* Confident, assertive, and collaborative work style.
* Full driving license and right to work in the UK.
* Willingness to travel nationally and internationally.
Desirable Skills
* Knowledge of ATEX Standards.
* Degree in a relevant discipline.
* Knowledge of luminaires, LEDs, and electronics.
