Role Overview
We are hiring a new Learning Disabilities and Autism (LD&A) Occupational Therapist to join our Reablement Team. The role is countywide, supporting people across Surrey.
Key Responsibilities
Embed a therapy-led, strengths‑based and holistic approach to short‑term care delivery. Work with individuals with Learning Disabilities and/or Autism, while supporting and developing the skills of Reablement colleagues through advice, guidance and sharing of specialist knowledge. Complete holistic assessments and write person‑led skills gain programmes. Work collaboratively with colleagues in Reablement and partner agencies to deliver personalised, strength‑based interventions that enable people to achieve maximum independence in their own homes. Provide advisory support to non‑qualified staff, newly qualified OTs, students and Reablement colleagues, including specialist advice and training in Learning Disabilities and Autism.
Qualifications & Experience
* HCPC registration as an Occupational Therapist and a degree or equivalent qualification in Occupational Therapy
* Knowledge and experience working with people with Learning Disabilities and/or Autism (pre‑registration experience is acceptable)
* Ability to manage your own workload, complete holistic assessments and write person‑led skills gain programmes
* Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues in Reablement and partner agencies to deliver personalised, strength‑based interventions
* Knowledge and experience of short‑term and goal‑focused interventions
* Experience working within a community‑based social care or health service is beneficial
* Valid UK driving licence and access to a vehicle, with willingness to travel across Surrey’s urban and rural areas
* Willingness to attend meetings outside usual working hours as required
* Successful completion of an enhanced DBS check and Children’s and Adults’ Barred List checks
