About the school:

At Craigbank, a nurturing approach underpins the whole school, ethos, values and vision for all stakeholders. In September, we began the journey towards achieving National Nurturing Schools status through participation in the Nurture UK programme. With an established nurture group in school, we continue to develop the knowledge, understanding and application of the nurture principles in every class and wider school context. Using these principles in all that we do enhances wellbeing for all stakeholders and promotes readiness to learn for all.

Transforming learning and teaching, inspiring learners, improving attainment and supporting young people to achieve their potential is what we want our schools to achieve.

We are looking to appoint an experienced and highly motivated leader who can take forward the Council’s priorities for education and the drivers of change in the National Improvement Framework. You can do this as a Head Teacher in one of our modern school buildings which are designed to deliver a 21st century curriculum.

Formulate clear aims for the school and policies to ensure their achievement within the framework of the Council’s policies. Ensure the communication of these aims and policies to all staff, pupils, parents and other users of the school. Act on behalf of the Council, as principal professional adviser to the Parent Council which is a separately constituted group to support parental engagement, family learning, and provide such advice and information as required, by the Parental Involvement Act .

You will be required to study for and obtain the Standard for Headship, as determined by the GTC and in accordance The Head Teachers Education and Training Standards (Scotland) Regulations. You must be successful in gaining the Standard for Headship within 30 months of taking up your appointment. Full details on how to obtain this are available on the GTC website. Failure to achieve the Standard for Headship within 30 months of starting your post, may lead to termination of your employment as a Head Teacher.

Please outline the date you achieved the Standard for Headship or when you are likely to achieve it in an attached document.
