Main duties of the job
Have a thorough knowledge of all Practiceprocedures, work in accordance of written protocols, receive, assist, anddirect patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professionalin a courteous, efficient, and effective way.
The role requires a range of IT skills includingutilising a clinical system, emails, and Microsoft products (training will beprovided on all systems).
Contribute to the practice team ethos and project apositive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person orvia the telephone. Contribute to the practice rota to provide additional coverfor team members during periods of sickness and annual leave.
Job Responsibilities may also require you to:
- Amalgamate newly registered patient's notes onreceipt to the practice.
- Fax and photocopy as required.
- Scan patient correspondence onto computer recordswhere applicable.
- Provide patients with test results over the phoneor in person in accordance with practice guidelines.
- Receive and signpost patients in reception.
- Handle prescription requests and distributecompleted prescriptions.
- Deal with telephone queries and transfer calls tothe appropriate person.
- Do any other appropriate tasks commensurate withrole.

Job responsibilities

- Work in accordance of written protocols.
- Amalgamate newly registered patient's notes on receipt to thepractice.
- Fax and photocopy as required.
- Scan patient correspondence onto computer records where applicable.
- Provide patients with test results over the phone or in person inaccordance with practice guidelines.
- Receive and signpost patients in reception.
- Handle prescription requests and distribute completed prescriptions.
- Deal with telephone queries and transfer calls to the appropriateperson.
- Do any other appropriate tasks commensurate with role.
Appointments
- Signposting patients to the most appropriate healthcare professionaland process appointment requests.
- Deal with visits requests in accordance with practice guidelines.
- Enter patient's details on the computer for telephone triage by theduty doctor.
Utilising clinical software system
- Registering new patients.
- Computer data entry and updating medical records where applicable.
- Process patients change of address computer data and medical records(have knowledge of practice area).
- Process repeat prescription request in accordance with practiceguidelines.
-Update patients computer records in accordance with practiceguidelines.
- Utilise the telephone system to communicate with patients andstakeholders.
- Ensure building is alarmed and secure when leaving at the end of theday.
- Any other tasks allocated by managers.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Good level of numeracy and spoken English. Good standard of keyboard skills including experience of communicating via email.
* Ability to communicate with patients and stakeholders in Welsh.
Experience
* Experience of working with the public in customer facing role. Experience of working within a team.
* Experience of working in an administrative role in a healthcare environment. Experience of using clinical software systems in General Practice. Experience of preparing repeat prescriptions.
