Overview
Full time / 37 Hours Per Week / Permanent We have a great opportunity for an experienced Vehicle Technician to join our Fleet Service team, where you’ll be responsible for the maintenance and repair work of all our Fleet Vehicles, whilst ensuring that you deliver an outstanding customer experience.
Our Fleet Service provides and maintains a large diverse fleet of vehicles which deliver items such as light goods, PSV, heavy goods, and some plant objects. We provide valuable support to the wider services across the Council, including Cleansing, Housing, Highways, Parks & Open Spaces, Passenger & Transport Services and much more across the city.
Responsibilities
* Maintain the council’s diverse fleet of vehicles, plant and equipment, which will involve inspection, servicing, test preparation, fault diagnosis and repairs.
* Complete written or computerised vehicle and job sheet records.
* Interpret information received from drivers and users of plant and equipment, give advice on actions to be taken and provide feedback on the work completed.
Requirements
* Previous experience of servicing vehicles, plant, and equipment to include fault diagnostics, repair and maintenance as well as the ability to use the appropriate trade tools and methods safely.
* Ability to trace, diagnose and repair vehicles, plant and equipment faults, including identification of parts and equipment required to ensure vehicles are safe for the road.
* Successful completion of a recognised industry apprenticeship such as an Institute of Motor Industry (IMI) approved apprenticeship and/or a Level 3 qualification in light/heavy vehicle or plant engineering (City & Guilds Part II, BTEC National, ONC/D or similar).
* Full UK driving licence is required (LGV Cat C licence desirable but not essential).
