Overview
Specialty Doctor in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust. The role involves delivering high quality care to service users through a multidisciplinary team with support and supervision of a consultant psychiatrist. You will assess and manage children and young people with complex mental disorders as part of a multidisciplinary and multiagency environment. The post fosters a collaborative team culture focused on excellent care.
Responsibilities
* Provide psychiatric/medical expertise and advise colleagues as required.
* Participate in initial, emergency response and partnership assessments and management.
* Engage in consultations with clinicians and medical teams within the team and with other agencies.
* Be part of duty or emergency rota with clinicians and psychiatrists within the team.
* Review patients on medications and complete repeat prescriptions as required.
* Contribute to risk assessment and care management in line with relevant mental health legislation and child protection frameworks, liaising with other agencies as appropriate.
* Agree a job plan with the Clinical Director, CAMHS, with potential involvement in academic and research interests.
* Attend Continuing Professional Development meetings and mandatory training; participate in teaching and supervision of trainees and medical students where appropriate.
* Participate in clinical governance, quality assurance, audits, and service evaluation to support service development.
* Support quality improvement initiatives and promote continuous improvement within the team.
* Provide supervision and appraisal for junior doctors in line with Trust policies and MMC framework.
* Undertake administrative duties associated with patient care and contribute to service and business planning for the locality and mental health service.
* Maintain professional registration with the General Medical Council and compliance with relevant professional standards.

Qualifications and Experience
* MbChb, MBBS or equivalent; completion of core training or 3 years post-graduate experience in Psychiatry.
* Full registration with the General Medical Council; ability to gain Section 12 (2) approval.
* Experience of working in a multidisciplinary team and in community settings; CAMHS team experience is desirable.
* Good communication skills and knowledge of mental health legislation; IT system proficiency is desirable.
* Evidence of audit competency; willingness to engage in research/publication is desirable.
Other Requirements
* Ability to undertake local travel; capable of independent travel as required.
* Disclosure and Barring Service check in line with status of the post.
Salary: £61,542 to £99,216 per annum. Contract: Permanent. Working pattern: Full-time. Location: Mid Mersey CAMHS Response Team, Knowsley Resource and Recovery Centre, Dragon Lane, Prescot, L35 5DR.
