A recognized high-volume manufacturer is currently looking to strengthen their Tooling department with the appointment of a Tooling Engineer.
Working from their manufacturing facility in Shropshire, the Tooling Engineer will be responsible for:
1. Owning and delivering all new Tooling projects
2. Reviewing and approving Tooling designs
3. Project management of tooling suppliers
4. Attending buy-off events and overseeing sampling and commissioning at suppliers and in-house
5. Owning and managing pre- and final acceptance tests
6. Producing 2D drawings for products, tooling, fixtures, and equipment to support manufacturing, quality, and engineering activities
7. Conducting part feasibility reviews and applying Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles
8. Understanding part tolerances, capability statistics, and GD&T
9. Generating and developing CAD models using SolidWorks or CATIA
10. Interrogating flow analysis reports
11. Generating SOR and RFQ documents for engineering and quoting support
12. Supporting continuous improvement activities through CAD proposals for product and tooling enhancements
13. Participating in root-cause analysis and implementing countermeasures
14. Maintaining master tool drawings and facilitating access for tooling maintenance to minimize downtime and costs
15. Assisting with department standardization processes
16. Validating flow and thermal analysis during production and capturing lessons learned
17. Reviewing current production tooling issues and identifying areas for improvement
The successful candidate should have a minimum of an Apprenticeship or ONC/HNC qualification and be familiar with die casting processes.
