Our clients, who specialise in Fine Art logistics services, are looking to appoint a European Road Freight Coordinator for their team based in Berkshire. Experience handling Fine Art is essential for this role.
As European Road Freight Coordinator, you will be responsible for coordinating and managing the export/import processes for road freight shipments, as well as ensuring the profitability of the European transport operations.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Planning and coordinating transport routes and daily schedules across Europe, ensuring cost efficiency and profitability.
2. Managing customer collections, packing services, and deliveries effectively.
3. Working with customers and office staff to plan routes, schedule deliveries, and coordinate drivers, agency drivers, and vehicles.
4. Coordinating with customs for clearance and managing customs entry exceptions.
5. Managing EU airfreight and EU road courier shipments.
6. Investigating and resolving client/supplier problems and complaints.
7. Coordinating all aspects of shipping fine art and antiques between destinations.
8. Liaising with overseas agents, private collectors, galleries, auction houses, artists, and transport companies.
9. Communicating with clients to guide them through the art shipping process.
10. Quoting and coordinating domestic and international shipments.
11. Arranging customer collections and deliveries, including specialist packing services.
12. Preparing, booking, and processing transportation documentation.
13. Handling paperwork such as bills of lading, labeling, timesheets, condition reports with photos, and customs clearance, including advising customers on payments.
14. Producing timely invoices and maintaining comprehensive records, including on freight management systems.
15. Generating operational reports and cost analyses of jobs and European truck runs.
16. Communicating with sales and operations teams throughout the day.
Candidate requirements:
Proven experience and knowledge of domestic and European transport operations and planning, with in-depth understanding of EU customs procedures, paperwork requirements, and transport legislation. Good geographical knowledge and experience dealing with high-end clients and goods are essential.
You should be commercially focused, organised, proficient in Microsoft Office, and possess excellent attention to detail. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are also required.
