Community Support Worker (Sessional): Salary - £14.77 - £14.98 | Casual | 0 - Zero Hour

About the role

The role of a Home and Community Support Worker is to be part of a team providing practical care and support to children with a disability (and their families) out in the community. You will support children and young people with disabilities to engage in play activities whilst providing a safe environment to widen their independence and social skills. To promote children, young people’s, and their families' well-being by providing families with a break from caring responsibilities whilst at the same time the child/young person is engaged in a valued, fun, and supportive activity in the community.

To provide care for children/young people with a disability in a manner that respects their individual needs and rights, promoting choice and independence according to the child/young person’s ability. This could include all the child’s personal care needs such as eating, dressing, toileting, bathing, and the administration of medication.

Relevant training will be provided before support takes place (examples being safeguarding, moving and handling (if applicable), lone working, first aid training, etc).

About you

* Experience of direct working with children with a disability in a health, education, social services, or voluntary sector setting.
* Ability to work independently and use your own initiative and make use of advice/supervision.
* Due to the nature of the role, you must be a minimum of 18 years to apply. If you are under 18 and want to apply, we have other roles available based at our centres at Moor Lane (Chessington) or Windham Croft Centre (Kew).
* Have a range of skills to offer and who are adaptable and patient and have the desire and motivation to help children/young people with disabilities achieve their potential.
* Able to support children/young people with their needs, such as personal care, mobility, and independence.
