Senior Design Manager – Major Refurb & Expansion Project
Hybrid between Suffolk/Essex & Remote working.
About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Design Manager to join Eastern Construction team for a Tier 1 contractor playing a pivotal role on a major £100m+ construction project. This is an exciting opportunity to lead and coordinate complex design activities, ensuring all outputs align with programme timescales, cost targets, and quality standards. The project will have a long pre-construction phase before works start on site.
Key Responsibilities
As Senior Design Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the design process from pre-construction through to on-site delivery. Your day-to-day will include:
* Leading and managing the design process during pre-construction and construction phases.
* Reviewing and interrogating Employer’s Requirements to shape compliant and efficient design solutions.
* Preparing Contractor’s Proposals in collaboration with commercial, planning, and delivery teams.
* Driving innovative and cost-effective solutions into the design process.
* Monitoring and resolving design issues to strict deadlines, ensuring timely delivery of design information by consultants.
* Coordinating design consultants and ensuring integration of their work into the wider project programme.
About You
* This role would suit an experienced Senior Design Manager who thrives on delivering complex, large-scale projects.
* Proven experience of delivering high-value, multidisciplinary design packages from a main contractor perspective.
* Strong organisational, planning, and workload management skills.
* A sound understanding of Building Regulations and Planning Permission procedures.
* Experience of site and contract procedures (advantageous).
