Job summary

Addenbrookes CUH Blood Sciences Biochemistry is looking for an experienced, versatile, and highly dynamic Biomedical Scientist to join our team of BMS and MLA's.

To be suitable for this substantive role, you must have a degree in Biomedical Science or equivalent and be registered with the HCPC.

You must be keen to learn, show a strong commitment to personal and professional development and will be considering or be working towards a Specialist Portfolio, equivalent or relevant MSC degree in Biomedical Sciences.

You will have the following:-

Experience of working in a Biomedical Science laboratory

Experience of IT systems including LIMS systems and Microsoft Office packages

Working knowledge of various automated techniques, practices and analytical platforms within Biochemistry

Competency to perform testing and validate results to defined protocols

Experience of Quality Management Systems

Ability to work with minimal supervision

Our laboratories run a 24/7 service and there is a requirement for you to be flexible and able to participate in the full shift rota, covering Nights, Lates, Weekends and Bank Holiday.


Main duties of the job

Undertake testing and processing of biomedical specimens, analysis and entering of results, and technical validation of results.

To work flexibly in reflection of service needs this may include an extended working day and/or participation in delivery of a 24 hour, 7 days per week service

Supervises and/or trains less experienced staff in own area of work and competency

Maintain and promote professional image of the CUH Trust.
