Our client, a leading organisation in the highways sector, is currently seeking a dedicated Schemes Engineer on a contract basis. This pivotal role involves assisting the Projects Delivery Manager and Construction Manager in managing and delivering schemes and projects from the client's concept design to the final build and documentation stage.
Key Responsibilities:
Coordinating the Build Programme delivery
Reviewing proposed detailed designs for buildability with designers and subcontractors
Developing and securing acceptance for build programmes from TfL
Engaging in Early Contractor Involvement as instructed
Liaising with all stakeholders, including TfL, London Buses, Boroughs, Network Rail, and Emergency Services
Ensuring timely and complete submission of TM drawings
Submitting necessary legal and safety documents in accordance with client timelines
Completing and approving Construction Phase Plans, and reviewing Risk Assessments and Method Statements
Programming and liaising with all subcontractor activities
Ensuring compliance with SHEQ requirements and operating procedures
Arranging and chairing progress meetings with contractors and clients
Ensuring constructions adhere to the approved design, specification, and quality standards
Addressing site queries raised by subcontractors
Managing timely raising of ENW and CE notices with subcontractors and TfL
Booking and managing signal switchouts with TfL as needed
Providing as-built drawings and post-construction information to the client
Daily reporting of progress on live schemes to the TfL client
Conducting weekly site Health & Safety Audits
Job Requirements:
Experience in highways, preferably within London
Ability to manage multiple schemes simultaneously
Strong organisational and communication skills
Possession of a full manual UK driver's licence
Competent IT skills with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Project
Good knowledge of Chapter 8 Traffic management and the Manual of Contract Documents for Highway Work - Specifications for Highway Works
Holding a CSCS card is preferred
Experience in road space permitting with NH, TfL, and London Boroughs
Ability to work effectively within a team environment
Knowledge of H&S practices and compliance with TKJV Health & Safety requirements
HNC or equivalent in Civil Engineering
SMSTS or SSSTS certification required
Experience with the NEC form of contract
