About the Role As a Family Support Worker, you will work directly with children and young people with a wide range of additional needs, alongside their families, to deliver practical, tailored support that makes a real difference. You will: Build strong, trusting relationships with children, young people and their families Deliver direct, person-centred support that promotes independence and confidence Ensure the child’s voice and lived experience remain at the heart of all work Support families to overcome barriers and access the help they need Work as part of a wider team to deliver evidence-based interventions Help children develop social skills, resilience and daily living skills Work closely with partners across health, education and community services to improve outcomes Support carers and families to find sustainable ways of coping, including opportunities for short breaks This is a relational, hands-on role where you’ll see the impact of your work every day – in small steps, big achievements, and meaningful moments. Who We’re Looking For You’ll be someone who: Has experience working with children, young people or families (experience of disability is valuable but not essential) Is passionate about supporting children with additional needs to thrive Can build genuine, trusting relationships with children and families Is patient, empathetic and able to adapt to each child’s individual needs Works well as part of a team and alongside partner agencies Is organised, reliable and able to manage a varied workload Most importantly: We’re looking for people who truly care, people who are kind, curious, and motivated to make a difference in the lives of children with disabilities and their families.
