An opportunity is available within the Secondary Network Design Team, for a Project Delivery & Site Planning Support, based at either Stoke or Telford depot to primarily cover the West Midlands area. The base location (one of the above depots) will be agreed with the successful candidate. Reporting to the Project Delivery & Site Planning Manager within the Distribution Network Operator, you will be responsible for all aspects of Delivery Planning and consenting, working closely with a team to provide a specialist consenting and scheme development service ahead of reinforcement works. The Secondary Network Design team are responsible for the design, consenting and delivery planning of the RIIO ED2 load related reinforcement schemes that have been identified by DSO across all four license areas. The team work closely with the Secondary System Planning team, who are responsible for the analysis of NGED’s (National Grid Electricity Distribution) HV and LV Distribution System and will identify and prioritise the areas of secondary investment. The team also work closely with Operations teams, who will be responsible for the construction of the projects, to help maximise efficiency and accomplish common objectives. * Depending on experience, you may initially be appointed at a lower salary until all relevant courses and training are complete. Main Responsibilities Plan and develop Overhead and Underground route selection and look at the physical delivery of projects producing detailed reports for site and route selection assessments. This includes negotiating consents, wayleaves, easements and agreements in respect of the location of distribution assets. Undertake project planning applications and be the point of contact with local authorities and other consultees/objectors. Provide a delivery planning & consenting service to Network Design and Operations, developing schemes in readiness for construction and liaise closely with the local Operations teams to ensure smooth transition for delivery. Complete suitability assessment and consents for existing and new distribution transformer sites (PMT’s and GMT’s). Assist PDSP Specialist with HV and LV scheme preparation in terms of site and route selection/survey/acquisition and identify any equipment required and pole heights. Design and plan schemes in accordance with company policy and ensure compliance to required standards and Engineering Recommendations. Issue work to contractors, approve daily work sheets and carry out quality and compliance checks on contractor’s works. Other tasks appropriate to the grade. You should have an analytical mind, with a methodical approach to problem solving and have the ability to present information in a clear and reasoned way. The Ideal Candidate The successful candidate will be expected to meet and communicate with our grantors, customers, land agents, local authorities and statutory bodies, attend site meetings and share advice and technical knowledge with our colleagues and contractors. You should ideally have knowledge or experience of construction techniques for overhead and underground assets and knowledge or experience in dealing with landowners to gain consents for planned work. A broad understanding of the environmental obligations, legislation and regulations affecting consents and wayleaves would be advantageous. In addition, you should have proficient negotiation and influencing skills and must be able to demonstrate an ability to communicate effectively with customers, landowners and Local Authorities, as well as statutory consultees, objectors and other authorities. Experience in the company systems and dealing with consents and wayleaves is advantageous but not essential as all relevant training will be provided. You will need to be mobile throughout the area, therefore a full UK driving licence is required.
