Design Manager | Major UK Infrastructure Project
I am working with a leading Tier 1 contractor delivering a high profile, technically complex civils programme in the UK and they are looking to appoint an experienced Design Manager to lead multi discipline design delivery from pre-construction through to construction phase.
SC Clearance is required or must be eligible to obtain it & right to work in the UK is essential
The role:
You will take ownership of managing external design consultants, driving technical compliance and ensuring all design outputs align with programme, contract and client requirements. The position acts as the technical focal point for the project, working closely with the Project Manager and wider engineering teams.
Key responsibilities include:
* Managing design queries and technical approvals
* Reviewing contract requirements and ensuring compliance
* Chairing design reviews and interface meetings
* Controlling design deliverables and document registers
* Producing monthly progress reports
* Managing change control and technical instructions
* Coordinating with Principal Designer and assurance teams
* Supporting safety, sustainability and quality objectives
What we are looking for:
* Strong background in major civil engineering or infrastructure schemes
* Experience working within design management or technical services teams
* Proven track record managing consultants and multidisciplinary interfaces
* Solid understanding of Principal Designer duties
* Able to operate in regulated or secure environments
* Confident communicator with strong stakeholder management skills
