Graduate Geotechnical & Geo-environmental Engineer

A leading multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy is looking to add a Graduate Geotechnical & Geo-environmental Engineer to its growing team in Sheffield. This is an exciting opportunity for a recent graduate to kick-start their career within a dynamic and supportive environment, working on a broad range of development and infrastructure projects across the UK.
The Role
You’ll join a well-established geotechnical and geo-environmental team, gaining hands-on experience through a mix of site and office-based work. Supporting senior engineers, you’ll be involved in investigations, reporting, and client interaction from day one.
Typical responsibilities will include:
1. Attending development sites to carry out walkovers, trial pitting, soakaway testing, and gas monitoring
2. Supervising intrusive investigations (e.g. boreholes, window sampling)
3. Assisting in the preparation of Phase 1 and Phase 2 geotechnical and geo-environmental reports
4. Supporting in remediation verification and capping validation
5. Liaising with clients, local authorities, contractors and in-house technical teams
This role provides excellent exposure to both environmental and geotechnical aspects of ground engineering and offers structured development under experienced mentors.
About You
We’re looking for someone enthusiastic, inquisitive and eager to grow. You’ll be joining a collaborative team with a hands-on approach to training and development.
Requirements:
6. BSc or MSc in Geology, Earth Sciences, Environmental Science, or Geography
7. Strong academic background (including three good A-Levels or equivalent)
8. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
9. A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for site visits (mileage expenses paid)
