Locum Consultant Dermatologist
Job Summary
Locum Consultant in Dermatology 10 PA Job Plan to cover Maternity leave. An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic whole‑time consultant to join our thriving, extremely busy Dermatology Department at Kingston Hospital NHS Foundation Trust to cover maternity leave until January 2027. We offer a comprehensive dermatology service which is provided by a dedicated multidisciplinary team consisting of medical consultants, consultant nurse practitioners, clinical nurse specialists, a medical photographer and a team of outpatient nurses with a special interest in the treatment of dermatological conditions. The department benefits from a full range of diagnostic imaging and pathology support services; and has close links with St George's Hospital and St Johns Dermatological Society.
Responsibilities
* Provide actively support and develop Dermatology services in Kingston and the surrounding area, and share clinical responsibilities with professional colleagues within the department providing assessment, investigation and treatment of patients suffering with skin disease.
* Work with clinical colleagues and local managers in providing a safe, efficient and effective service for Kingston Hospital, including review of inpatients, provision of outpatient clinics, undertaking of minor operating lists and active participation in the Skin Cancer MDT support.
* Support undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training.
Qualifications
Essential
* Full GMC Registration
* MRCP or equivalent
* CCT in Dermatology or Register within 6 months of CCT from the date of the interview or have confirmed eligibility for Specialist Registration.
Desirable
* MD/PhD/MBA
Clinical Experience
* Current wide range of geriatric medicine as well as general and acute medicine experience.
* Knowledge and experience of working in Dermatology.
Management Skills
Desirable
* Attended management training course.
* Knowledge of finance / budgets.
Experience in Training, Audit and Research
* Demonstrable commitment and ability to teach and train undergraduates and junior doctors.
* Experience of clinical audit.
Desirable
* Completed 'Train the Trainers' course.
* Relevant research articles in peer‑reviewed journals.
Personal Qualities
* Demonstrate leadership skills within a multidisciplinary team.
* Ability to motivate staff, to facilitate appropriate changes in clinical practice and to work as part of a team.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, enthusiasm and approachability.
* Commitment to continuing professional development and clinical governance.
