User Experience Engineer
This is a founding role in our new UI / UX Team, You will bring a combination of both technical and design expertise, forming a partnership between Researchers, Designers and Engineers. You will have a solid understanding of programming fundamentals, working primarily in Typescript, React and CSS. Additionally, you will be an advocate for good UX, understanding how to create designs and translate those into implementation.
Initially, you will be embedded within our Data platform team, called Atlas, to improve the suite of products. Your UX expertise will also be valued across the other products in Vaarst, such as SubSLAM, where you will help guide and build consistency in design and an exceptional user experience.

Objectives & Responsibilities:
Vaarst is an exciting and dynamic environment meaning these are likely to change as we grow, upon joining your objectives and responsibilities will include:
* Designing, prototyping, and developing the Front-End to solve complex problems
* Advocating for User Experience design and guiding the Engineering teams
* Collaborating with Researchers, Designers, and Engineers to build consensus
* Modifying and testing changes to previously developed products
* Breaking down requirements and building appropriate solutions
* Contribute to and uphold agile development practices
* Guide and build consistency in design and an exceptional user experience

* Design and UI/UX expertise
* Expertise in web design fundamentals, including CSS and HTML
* Writing production-level Typescript and ReactJS code
* Building and maintaining design systems
* Using design tools, such as Figma
* Leveraging APIs and data sources to build interactive and engaging applications
* Exceptional communication skills, talking in both design and technical language.
Grow together with Vaarst, you may have some knowledge of the following, if you don’t these are areas you’ll develop in.
* Automated testing practises, such end-to-end tests and TDD.
* Web bundlers, such as Webpack
* Backend languages and tools, such as Python, Django and Flask
* Git & GitHub, CI/CD toolchains and containers
* User research and requirements gathering
