Job Description:

Location: Tresham College – Kettering Campus

Salary/Benefits: Salary is between £23,557 and £25,849 per annum (Pro-Rata) DOE and Qualifications, People’s pension, Retail and Leisure Discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses.

Hours/Weeks: 37 hours per week – 38 weeks per year

Contract Type: Permanent – Term Time

About the role:

We are currently seeking a Libraries & Learning Resources Assistant to join our Libraries and Learning Resources department at The Bedford College Group.

As a Libraries & Learning Resources Assistant, you play an important role in the success of our students through:

* Learner Support & Engagement – Provide first-line support for learners and staff, helping them access and use resources effectively, develop research and study skills, and build independence in learning.
* Library Operations – Maintain an efficient, welcoming, and well-organised library environment, using the Library Management System for issuing items, managing records, and supporting promotional activities.
* Curriculum Collaboration – Work closely with curriculum staff to align library services with course needs, deliver tailored inductions, and support learners with ICT and digital tools.
* Professional Standards & Flexibility – Uphold college policies on safeguarding, equality, and health and safety, while supporting exams, volunteers, and other departments as needed across campuses.
* Continuous Development – Engage in training, performance reviews, and evolving responsibilities to ensure the library service remains responsive, inclusive, and learner-focused.

About you:

* Essential Qualifications & IT Skills – GCSEs (A–C) in English and Maths or equivalent, with strong IT skills and experience using Windows applications, internet research, and a willingness to learn new technologies.
* Learner Support & Communication – Proven ability to deliver user education, manage learner behaviour, and provide clear, supportive guidance to both learners and staff.
* Teamwork & Independence – A flexible, reliable team player who can also work independently, manage time effectively, and prioritise tasks under pressure.
* Professionalism & Values – Positive, enthusiastic, and committed to teaching and learning, with a strong understanding of equality, diversity, and the values of The Bedford College Group
* Flexibility & Commitment – Willingness to work evenings and weekends as needed, with a clear dedication to the College’s vision and the ability to adapt to organisational needs.
