PRESS TOOL DESIGN ENGINEER

Location: Coleshill

Salary: cGBP45k neg dep exp + benefits

Our client has been established for almost 40 years and is recognized as a market leader in the design, development, manufacture, and distribution of an impressive portfolio of electrical cabling and connection solutions for supply throughout the world. Due to continued success and an ongoing program of strategic growth for 2025 and beyond, they are now looking to recruit an experienced, hands-on, and proactive Press Tool Design Engineer to complement their professional and successful Solutions Design team.

Reporting to the Manufacturing Design Manager and based near Coleshill, the successful Press Tool Design Engineer will be responsible for:

1. Designing and developing press tool and fixture designs.
2. Implementing improvements to the manufacturing and assembly processes.
3. Understanding company objectives and striving to meet and exceed KPIs and metrics.
4. Delivering improved efficiencies and reducing downtime.
5. Investigating and undertaking analysis on how to improve existing tooling or components.
6. Creating technical reports and presenting information using PowerPoint.
7. Performing essential material stress-strain analysis calculations and DFMEA/PFMEA analysis.
8. Identifying new systems and processes to drive quality and efficiency.
9. Evaluating existing manufacturing processes and researching solutions to increase efficiency.

With excellent communication skills at all levels, you will be able to communicate effectively with clients, colleagues, and contractors involved in a project. You will also be skilled in managing and planning your time effectively to ensure your projects are delivered on time, to standard, and in budget. Other duties will include:

1. Working with coordinators and operatives to implement new machines and procedures.
2. Providing manufacturing support and information for all processes.
3. Creating CAD drawings, Press Tooling, and Fixture designs and reviewing them safely.
4. Generating and maintaining product and process data.
5. Undertaking NPD and associated testing and research as required.

To be considered for this varied and challenging Press Tool Design Engineer position, it is envisaged that the successful candidate will demonstrate at least 4+ years' experience in a similar Press Tooling design position and realistically be qualified to at least HNC level or above in a relevant Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering discipline. Additionally, candidates should have:

1. SAP/ERP experience.
2. Knowledge of 3D CAD (CREO Parametric or SolidWorks).
3. Demonstrable experience of Press Tool or jig and fixture design.
4. Knowledge of metal manufacturing processes and ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
