To work as an autonomous practitioner, responsible for the provision of medical services to the practice population, delivering an excellent standard of clinical care whilst complying with the GMS contract. Furthermore, the post‑holder will adhere to the GMC standard for good medical practice, contributing to the effective management of the practice, leading by example and maintaining a positive, collaborative working relationship with the multidisciplinary team.
Responsibilities
* Provide a full range of medical services as defined in the core GMS contract, additional and enhanced services where appropriate.
* Provide other general medical services to meet identified patient need.
* Make professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems whether self–referred or referred from other healthcare works within the organisation.
* See patients promptly and in a timely manner to minimise waiting times.
* Assess the healthcare needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
* Screen patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
* Develop care plans for health in consultation with patients and in line with current practice; disease management protocols, provide counselling and health education.
* Work within current ICB policy for prescribing.
* Be available and accessible to patients at all times as agreed.
* Maximise the effective use of current clinical computer systems. Record clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to an agreed standard.
* Compile and issue computer‑generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand‑written prescriptions whenever possible).
* Undertake all duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.
* Take part in, and lead on, areas including clinical auditing and data collection.
* Support under‑graduate student training in the surgery.
* Support GP registrar training in practice.
* Attend team meetings and other clinical meetings as necessary.
* Provide short‑term emergency cover for unplanned absence of colleagues.
* Be part of the on‑call rota for the practice.
Qualifications
* Qualified GP, GMC full registration.
* Membership of recognised defence union.
* MRCGP.
* Currently on the GP performers list, Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) check clearance.
* Occupational health clearance.
* Meet the requirements and produce evidence for GP revalidation.
* Evidence of continuing professional development (CPD) commensurate with the role, Microsoft Office applications.
* Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to listen and empathise.
* Good time management.
* Problem solving and a "solutions focused" approach.
* Pleasant and articulate.
* Hard working, willing and flexible with the ability to work under pressure.

About the Practice
Stockbridge Village Medical Centre is a well‑established practice with a great team spirit and a practice population of just over 8300. We are a friendly Knowsley‑based training practice looking for a part‑time salaried GP. We are 20 minutes from Liverpool city centre with good motorway links; some staff commute from Warrington, Wirral, Southport and Manchester. The team consists of 3 GP partners supported by a Business Manager, Practice Operations Manager, Reception Manager, 2 Reception Team Leaders, 3 salaried GPs, GP trainees, 2 Advanced Nurse Practitioners, 2 Practice Nurses, 1 Nurse Associate, 1 prescribing pharmacist and PCN ARRS staff. We are part of Central and South Knowsley PCN and consult using EMIS Web.
Working Conditions & Benefits
We are looking to appoint a part‑time salaried GP to join our existing team. The role is 4 sessions per week with preferred working days Monday & Tuesday. Salary depends on experience. We pay CPD time, MDU membership included and annual DDRB consideration. The contract is BMA model‑based. Regular time is protected for clinical meetings and GSF/MDT meetings. We hold regular team outings for socialising.
