Dunnington C of E Primary School is opening a Specialist Resource Provision (SRP) for a maximum of 8 pupils with SEMH needs. This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic practitioner with a passion for SEND and Inclusion, and who is committed to achieving excellent outcomes for our pupils. Our SRP will enable pupils to achieve their full potential by thriving in a safe, inclusive and nurturing environment while being included with their mainstream peers within our unique and beautiful setting. The successful candidate will have high expectations and demonstrate a calm, positive and consistent approach towards pupils with SEND needs especially pupils with communication and SEMH related difficulties; while also being adept at adapting their teaching to meet the cognition and learning challenges for pupils with complex SEND. The successful candidate will promote inclusive, adaptable teaching and they will employ learning strategies that follow a tailored curriculum supporting the development of the whole child. They will also be a part of the Senior Leadership Team of the school. The SRP has its own classroom providing a safe, nurturing and supportive environment for children who need support at a higher level than the mainstream classroom. Pupils in the SRP will be assessed and learning subsequently planned to meet their individual needs, which encompasses both the National Curriculum, their EHCP and a focus on SEMH development. We welcome applications from teachers with experience of teaching in an Early Years or primary setting who have the ability to transfer their skills to working with pupils who have SEMH difficulties and learning needs. We also welcome applications from teachers who have experience in teaching in mainstream or specialist schools. We are looking for a teacher who: Has a proven ability to teach pupils with SEMH needs effectively through the use of dynamic & engaging techniques. Has the ability to lead a provision and manage staff in an effective way towards outstanding practice Is able to reflect and see solutions in daily teaching, in their own practice and that of the team. Can use their initiative to solve problems. Can share ideas for the adjustment of learning to enable pupils to access the learning effectively.
