Be the first step in a learners journeyWere looking for a proactive and compassionate Student Support Coach to join our Prison Education team. This is a key front-facing role where youll support learners from their very first interaction with education, helping them access opportunities, overcome barriers, and stay engaged in learning.As the first point of contact for learners, youll play a vital role in shaping positive first impressions, supporting induction, and ensuring every learner is set up for success.What youll be doingInduction & AssessmentDeliver a warm and professional welcome to learners entering educationLead screening and assessment processes during inductionGather learner history and assess starting pointsDeliver engaging induction sessions to maximise participation and engagementLearner Engagement & SupportProvide ongoing pastoral support to improve learner retention and achievementBuild relationships with learners to understand goals and barriersSupport learners at risk of disengagement and track interventionsUse trauma-informed approaches to support learners effectivelyProgression & GuidanceOffer advice and guidance on available courses and learning pathwaysPromote education opportunities, including Open University and distance learningSupport applications and liaise with tutors and external organisationsEnsure learners are enrolled on courses aligned to their sentence plansAdministration & OperationsMaintain accurate learner records and data across prison systemsSupport enrolment, registers, exams, and invigilation processesCoordinate with internal teams and partner agenciesHelp maintain systems for the smooth running of the education centreTeamwork & FlexibilityWork collaboratively with tutors, support staff, and prison teamsSupport peer mentors and learner development activitiesProvide cover across the team, including admin and induction duties where requiredContribute to achieving contract KPIs and standardsWhat were looking forEssentialNVQ Level 2 in Business Administration (or equivalent)Level 3 qualification in supporting individuals with learning disabilities (or equivalent)Strong IT skills and ability to manage and analyse dataExcellent organisational, communication, and interpersonal skillsAbility to motivate and engage learners, particularly those with barriers to educationExperience in administration and working with individuals with additional needs or traumaHigh attention to detail and ability to manage records accuratelyUnderstanding of safeguarding, equality, and data protectionDesirableInformation, Advice and Guidance qualificationExperience in prison or secure environmentsExperience of exam invigilation and multi-agency workingKnowledge of OFSTED EIFWhy join us?Play a crucial role in supporting learner engagement and achievementBe part of a collaborative, supportive education teamDevelop experience in prison education and learner supportAccess ongoing training and development opportunitiesOur valuesWere looking for people who demonstrate:Customer First supporting learners to improve their livesTrue North acting with integrityOwn It taking accountabilityImprove to be the best striving for excellenceApply nowIf youre passionate about supporting learners and making education accessible, wed love to hear from you.TPBN1_UKTJ
