Here's an opportunity to contribute your skills and talents to enriching the lives of older adults who are experiencing dementia. Interested? Please read on.
We are seeking to recruit Community Support Workers - who enjoy working to ensure they make a positive contribution to the lives of Croydon residents attending Dementia Centres. This means providing activities which stimulates individuals' cognition in a sensitive and respectful manner; thereby enhancing social functioning and wellbeing whilst meeting best practice indicators for people with dementia
We need individuals who have a positive and caring approach; are innovative, and enthusiastic; and who demonstrate an understanding of person-centred dementia care and the commitment needed to care for someone with dementia. This will include organising and delivering CST, Reminiscence, Life Story, and other engaging activities.
You will have knowledge, skills and the ability to: work with vulnerable adults who have dementia and support their carers - within a safeguarding framework. You will be responsible for provision of appropriate activities, completing personalised care plans, leading outcome focused review meetings and completion of other necessary documents using I.T. Good literacy and report writing skills are essential.
Transport related duties would need to be undertaken as required as would personal care, (which could involve a high degree of moving and handling).
The ability to work as part of a team with a range of colleagues from statutory and non-statutory services is also expected.
Providing this service for individuals with dementia is based on assessed needs; is person centred, strength based, and outcomes focused. Successful candidates are required to support and enhance the health and wellbeing of people with dementia and enable individuals to optimise their abilities and strengths. This service contributes to LB Croydon's borough wide delivery of dementia care services and is part of the Provider Services Division.
NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care or its equivalent or above is desirable.
The service currently operates Mondays to Fridays covering 8.00 to 1800 hours. You will be required to work on a rota system.
