Job Description

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to help deliver our regulatory responsibilities, placed on us as the Enforcement Authority for the Reservoirs Act 1975 in England. The Reservoirs Act helps to ensure the safe operation and management of dams.

Responsibilities

* As an officer in the Compliance and Monitoring team, part of the Reservoir Regulation team, you will be responsible for monitoring compliance with the Reservoirs Act 1975 for the 2140 reservoirs in England. In this role you will:
* manage our day-to-day correspondence
* record incoming documentation on our database to ensure that our records are accurate and up to date
* encourage compliance when reports or certificates are not received as expected
* be the first point of contact for reservoir owners and panel engineers
* provide information and advice on the requirements of the Act

Team and role details

* You will join the Environmental Assessment and Reservoir Regulation department, which is part of the Flood & Coastal Risk Management (FCRM) Directorate. The Reservoir Regulation team is a nationally dispersed team comprising 25+ highly motivated, experienced, skilled, and passionate people who are responsible for the regulation of the more than 2140 large raised reservoirs in England. The team is dispersed across the country. Some travel and overnight stays will be required.

* This a national role so you can be based at any Environment Agency office.

* Data and Information Management – Please give us an example of where you have collected, managed and shared data. What did you do to ensure this was done appropriately according to relevant data laws, policies, processes and standards?
* Communicates Effectively – Please give us an example of when you have had to explain complex technical information to a non-technical person. What was your approach? How did you check understanding?
* Focuses on Customers and Partners – Please give us an example of when you have had to tell a customer or client something they did not want to hear. How did you do it and how did you manage the relationship going forward?

Therefore, you will not be eligible for continuous service.
