SEN Teacher – Short Term Cover (Colchester) via TeacherActive – Until Christmas Are you an experienced SEN Teacher looking for a short-term teaching opportunity in Colchester? Role details Location: Colchester, Essex Contract: Short-term cover, until Christmas Hours: Full-time or part-time positions available (to be discussed) Start date: Immediate or as agreed School type: Special Educational Needs (SEN) provision / mainstream with SEN cohorts Accountability: Report to the school SENCo / Headteacher, with support from TeacherActive Responsibilities Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons for students with varying SEND needs Implement individualised Education Plans (IEPs) and support students to achieve targets Manage classroom behavior and create a positive, inclusive learning environment Monitor and assess student progress, maintaining accurate records Collaborate with teaching assistants, other staff, and external professionals Ensure safeguarding and welfare of all students in line with school policies Requirements Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent Experience teaching or supporting children with SEND Strong behavior management skills and resilience Knowledge of SEN frameworks (e.g., ASD, SLD, SEMH) and relevant strategies DBS on the update service or willing to undergo a new DBS Adaptability, reliability, and excellent communication skills What TeacherActive offers Competitive daily rates and prompt weekly pay A dedicated consultant for ongoing support and guidance Access to a wide range of SEN roles and schools Support with safeguarding, compliance, and DBS processing Opportunities for ongoing professional development and CPD All applicants will be contacted to discuss suitability and then invited to register with TeacherActive.
