Role Summary
The post holder will provide clinical and educational support and supervision to nursing staff in the Intensive Care Unit. The post holder is responsible for supporting the Senior nursing team in the coordination of and implementation of training and development of all nursing and support worker staff, including the provision of a positive learning environment in which staff can maximise their potential. Supporting the link nurses and senior nursing team in managing the student placement, identifying learning needs and facilitating opportunities to meet these.
Support the senior nursing team in the induction of new staff, the delivery of clinical education and supporting the continuing professional development of nursing staff within the Intensive Care Unit. Devise, plan and deliver training programmes, with the support from the matron, to support staff to develop new skills and achieve/maintain relevant competencies and skills.
Support in the delivery of essential learning within the ICU. To keep accurate records of the training delivered and outcomes. The post holder will also be expected to play a proactive role in quality and service improvement and, assist in the auditing of standards of essential learning delivery and compliance within the Intensive Care Unit To support staff, working clinically with them, to support their development and their career progression to become clinical experts, using up to date evidence-based practice, Trust policies and procedures.

An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, skilled and motivated person to join the Practice Education Team for Intensive Care Unit. The Unit is a busy adult ICU with over 0 admissions per year, including emergency and elective work, including paediatric admissions. This busy, friendly unit prides itself on the delivery of high quality care. The ICU was assessed as outstanding in our last CQC inspection.
The successful applicant will join the Practice education team and contribute to the educational and training needs of all nursing staff both registered and non- registered. They will also contribute to the day to day running of the unit and provide expert care to patients requiring interventional therapies to manage critical illness. The applicant will also be required to liaise with the multi-professional team and other services / departments within the Trust to promote good working relationships and take an active role in ICU development and education programmes.
The applicant will need to have a sound knowledge of all aspects of adult critical care and training in paediatric critical care. They will need to demonstrate a portfolio of both informal aThey will also be required to demonstrate current experience of managing a busy ICU (which might include developmental learning experience) on a day to day basis.
Applicants will need to have 3 years recent experience at Band 5 and able to demonstrate knowledge and experience of critical care nursing and management experience. Evidence of on-going professional development is essential.
