Location: Trafford Town Hall, Talbot Road, Stretford, M32 0TH; hybrid working (office/home/district)
Salary range: Band 6 (£33,366-£35,235) / Band 7 (£36,124-£38,626) (appointment based on qualifications and experience)
Working pattern: Full-time, 36.25 hours/week, flexible working

About the Role
Trafford’s Private Sector Housing Team seeks a Housing Enforcement Officer for a one-year fixed term. The team comprises Environmental Health Officers, Housing Enforcement Officers, and a Trainee. The role involves enforcing legislation related to private sector housing, investigating complaints, conducting inspections, and enforcing standards. The team also licenses Houses in Multiple Occupation and works to bring empty properties back into use. During the contract, assistance may be required for remediation of high-rise buildings with GMFRS.
This role offers flexible hot desking, home working, and fieldwork.
About you
You will have:
* At least 12 months’ experience in a housing-related field and specialist knowledge of private sector enforcement
* Investigation experience, including legal processes
* Report writing and presentation skills
* Ability to prioritize and manage workload under deadlines
* Passion, pride, and excellent communication skills
For Band 6:
* Minimum A Level or equivalent; ongoing professional development
For Band 7:
* Degree in Environmental Health / Housing or similar; HHSRS competency
