About Us

Createc leads technological innovation by combining creative applications of emerging sensor technology, robotics, and algorithms with a focus on commercial success and an entrepreneurial spirit to solve real human challenges. At its heart, Createc is a team of multi-skilled individuals who bridge the gap between academic and industrial approaches: we are defined by a technical capability, not a market; but everything we do is defined and guided by a commercial objective.

At Createc, we make technology happen. We're the team behind some of the world's most advanced applications of emerging sensor technology, robotics, and algorithms. By collaborating with both academia and industry, we are uniquely able to uncover, shape, and bring to life innovative ideas to solve real-world problems.

We succeed when our technologies add value in the world.

The Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and professional Robotics Field Service Engineer to join our mobile robotics applications team. This is a crucial role for Createc's future growth, focusing on the deployment and operation of advanced robotic systems—specifically the Boston Dynamics Spot—within Critical National Infrastructure (CNI) and nuclear sites.

You will be the face of Createc on-site, working directly with our key customers to transition robotic research into impactful, "business-as-usual" capabilities. This role is ideal for a self-motivated individual who is adept at technical robotics tasks and thrives in challenging, high-stakes environments. You will receive training in cutting-edge tools and techniques to ensure you are equipped to lead these deployments successfully.

Key Responsibilities

* Field Operations: Lead the on-site deployment, configuration, and operation of mobile robotic platforms, with a primary focus on the Boston Dynamics Spot quadruped.
* Customer Engagement: Act as a primary technical point of contact for customers, ensuring professional delivery and alignment with their operational requirements.
* Technical Problem Solving: Perform on-site troubleshooting and maintenance of robotic systems, ensuring high uptime and successful mission completion.
* Safety & Compliance: Operate within strict "safe systems of work" protocols, particularly when working in regulated CNI and nuclear environments.
* Reporting: Liaise with customer stakeholders and Createc project managers to provide feedback on mission success and project hours.

About You

We're looking for someone who shares our passion for bringing robotic solutions to life. You'll thrive in a fast-paced environment where initiative, curiosity, and technical rigour are valued.

Essential Qualities

* Robotics Proficiency: Demonstrated experience in operating or maintaining robotic systems (e.g., mobile platforms, drones, or autonomous systems).
* Proficient in mechatronics or robotics skills
* Such as understanding of motors, gearboxes, actuators and bearings,
* Proficient in use of multi-meters and oscilloscopes,
* Some experience in robotic programming and industrial networks with basic scripting skills,
* Ability to diagnose software/firmware issues,
* Basic CAD design and fabrication skills for e.g. mounts or brackets
* Professionalism: High levels of professionalism and the ability to represent the company effectively at high-security customer sites.
* Self-Motivation: A proven ability to work independently, take ownership of tasks, and manage project hours effectively.
* Willingness to travel across the UK and potentially internationally to support customer deployments.
* Clearance: Possession of, or the ability to obtain, a minimum of security clearance (SC essential for CNI/nuclear site access).

Desirable Experience

* Industry Experience: Prior experience working on nuclear or other Critical National Infrastructure (CNI) sites.
* Technical Skills: Familiarity with Linux (Ubuntu) command-line operation, IT networking, or basic electronics.
* Coding: Experience with Python, C++, or ROS (Robot Operating System) would be advantageous.
* Documenting hardware issues, identifying recurring problems, and reporting these to the Products sales team and suppliers.
* Previous experience working in a service department for a commercial organisation

Additional Information

Specific on the job training will be provided at the Cockermouth headquarters at Createc for the Boston Dynamics Spot unit and any other equipment required.

Please be aware that all employees undergo baseline security checks prior to joining the company, this is to meet the requirements of some of our projects.
