About the Role
This post is an exciting opportunity to be part of a growing team who are committed to improving the lives and educational outcomes for care experienced young people. The post sits within our Student Services team on the South Downs Campus but will support colleagues virtually across the other sites.
The successful candidate will work closely with teachers and support staff to improve the education experience and learning outcomes for all our care experienced students. You will support and empower young people to aspire and achieve their full potential. Under the supervision of the Director of Student Progress you will work collaboratively within a wider 'team around the student’ involving carers, social workers, the virtual school and other agencies. You will have the ability to deal calmly with different situations as they arise and be able to develop good relationships with students, carers and a wide range of professionals. The role will require face to face support with students and attending meetings and a range of activities linked to improving outcomes for our looked after students.
Responsibilities
You will be responsible for:
* To support the raising of educational attainment of Care Experienced students and challenge situations which act as barriers to raising achievement.
* To establish appropriate links between schools, social workers, carers, health practitioners and other professionals.
* To support the education of Care Experienced students to ensure their successful transition from school and inclusion in college.
* To monitor and regularly update ProMonitor and Unit E for all students in this cohort.
* To offer appropriate advice and pastoral support, including timely referrals, for Care Experienced students to ensure retention and successful progression
* To maintain accurate records of Care Experienced students including destination data and achievements.
* To attend and contribute to planning meetings, care experienced students including reviews, and other meetings on individual students as appropriate.
Requirements
You will need:
* Maths and English to at least level 2
* Qualified to a minimum of level 3, preferably in a relevant discipline youth/social work, IAG, teaching, training, or coaching, management, health etc.
* Experience of working with young people (post 16) or experience of providing pastoral support in an educational setting.
