CONTRACT TYPE: Permanent, Full-time.
DEPARTMENT: Communications, BBC Group Corporate Affairs.
LOCATION: Office base is London Broadcasting House - London. This is a hybrid role with office working 2-3 days a week
PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: anticipated range £30,000 to £40,000pa (plus London Weighting £5,319pa), depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE This is a rare opportunity to lead as a publicist within the Communications team, working on BBC Radio 2 within the Radio 2, BBC Radio 6 Music and Pop Music TV team. This is a fantastic role for an experienced, creative and enthusiastic comms professional with a passion for pop music, entertainment and radio. The successful candidate will promote a wide range of world-exclusive programming, including Radio 2 in the Park and 21st Century Folk, as well as a variety of outside broadcasts and special events.

The station targets at a 35+ audience, combines pop music and culture with specialist music, arts and current affairs, so the day job is varied and interesting - and no two days are the same. The candidate has the chance to work on impactful content whilst gaining invaluable experience.
YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:
As a publicist in the content team you will:
Lead on publicity campaigns across online, print, broadcast, social media and digital platforms to promote priority programming.
Work closely with senior stakeholders, programme makers, commissioners as well as presenters and their representatives to advise on publicity, plan events and announcements, and maximise positive coverage.
Collaborate effectively with other BBC teams and work with external partners to deliver campaigns in non-traditional means.
The publicist will be part of an out-of-hours on-call rota with colleagues.
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
We are looking for someone who loves radio and pop music, with an established track record on working on and delivering high profile and impactful publicity campaigns.
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
The candidate must have
A proven track record in running creative publicity campaigns in the entertainment/music/media/ broadcast industry, securing online, print, broadcast and social media coverage.
An accomplished writer, being able to tell a story succinctly, you will have experience in finding innovative ways to promote content to a broad audience, maximising opportunities and creating content on social media and online to build interest.
Experience of identifying and effectively managing reputational issues and crisis comms, including providing sound communications advice to senior colleagues and using varied communications tools to defend and enhance reputation.
An extensive network of contacts with national and local media, across print, broadcast and online outlets.
A good understanding of the music and wider entertainment news agenda and cycle, particularly pop music, with experience of using that knowledge to quickly spot a potential story and identifying ways to generate coverage.
DESIRED BUT NOT REQUIRED:
Experience in radio production.
