Hours: Monday to Friday – 07.30 am to 17.30 pm (45)
Location: Plymouth Devonport Royal Dockyard - reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Site Supervisor (Black Hat).
Due to the sensitive nature of the site, BPSS security clearance is required. Please note that this process can take up to 8 weeks.
Eligibility criteria
Candidates must hold a passport from a NATO, or MISWG member country and have resided in the UK for the past 5 years.
About the role
As an experienced Electrical Site Supervisor, you will be responsible for the following:
• Ensure all works are conducted in compliance with project safety rules, permits,
and procedures.
• Support the Authorised Person (AP) in maintaining safe systems of work.
• Identify, report, and escalate hazards and unsafe conditions.
• Provide frontline supervision of operatives and subcontractors.
• Confirm that all personnel have the correct competence, training, and authorisation for the tasks being
undertaken.
• Ensure that method statements, risk assessments (RAMS), and permits are understood and followed
by the team.
• Monitor work activities to ensure compliance with project standards and industry best practice.
• Communicate safety expectations, toolbox talks, and briefings to the workforce.
• Liaise with supervisors, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure safe work sequencing.
• Participate in daily coordination meetings and contribute to planning discussions involving electrical activities.
• Maintain records of inspections, calibrations, and equipment condition.
• Support audits, inspections, and compliance reviews.
• Promote a strong safety culture across the project.
• Identify opportunities for improvement in processes, tooling, supervision, and competence.
• Support training, mentoring, and competence development of site personnel.

Who are we looking for?
• Time-served electrician or equivalent (e.g., NVQ Level 3)
• Must have as a minimum an ECS Gold Card – Electrician or Approved Electrician
• SSSTS (Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme) or SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training
Scheme
• City & Guilds 2382 (BS7671 18th Edition Wiring Regulations)
• Strong working knowledge of Low Voltage systems and safe isolation practices.
• Demonstrable experience supervising electrical works on construction or industrial projects.
• Ability to interpret drawings, RAMS, and permit-to-work systems.
• Strong communication, leadership, and decision-making skills.
• A proactive safety-focused mindset with the confidence to challenge unsafe work.
Desirable:
• City & Guilds 2391–52 – Inspection, Testing & Certification
• Asbestos Awareness
• First Aid / Emergency First Aid at Work
Licence/Certification:
• EU, NATO, 5 Eyes, or MISWG member passports (preferred)
