Overview
The Get Britain Working white paper (November 2024) set out the government’s aim to create a new programme called ‘Connect to Work’, with a purpose to provide support to adults with disabilities, health conditions and/or other complex needs to move into and/or sustain employment. All local authorities (or combined authorities) are being provided with funding specifically to undertake delivery of the programme.
This brand-new role will lead the Council's Connect to Work IPS delivery team. This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in a new initiative from the very beginning and will help to build and shape the service.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
* lead and manage teams that support adults with disabilities, health conditions or other complex needs, with a focus on delivering the Connect to Work IPS delivery service
* build high-performing teams and use data to drive improvement at team and individual levels
* put customers at the heart of delivery and ensure a hugely positive experience for all service users, regardless of circumstances, needs or ambitions
* develop and maintain effective partnerships to create referral pathways and work with a wide range of partners and organisations
* engage with employers and develop strategies to create opportunities for customers, using existing knowledge and input from others who work with employers
* promote the service to build awareness, drive uptake and referrals, and be open to innovative promotion and communication approaches
* flexibly manage working hours as supported employment can occur beyond standard 9-5 hours to align with customer and employer needs
* ensure staff and customer safety, safeguarding, data protection and health and safety are robustly addressed and monitored
* promote robust data capture to enable effective performance monitoring and analytical thinking
Qualifications and Requirements
The successful candidate needs to have:
* a substantial background in managing and leading teams that support adults with disabilities, health conditions or other complex needs
* detailed knowledge of supported employment methodologies, preferably the Supported Employment Quality Framework (SEQF) or Individual Placement and Support (IPS), and familiarity with their fidelity frameworks
* ability to build and sustain high-performing teams and use data to drive improvement
* awareness of the local employment context and the ability to engage with employers to develop effective engagement strategies
* experience in promotion and communication strategies to raise service awareness and uptake
* flexibility to accommodate non-standard hours and prioritise customer and staff safety
* familiarity with safeguarding, data protection and health and safety in the context of supported employment
