Wood is currently recruiting for Principal Mechanical Engineer with significant experience in the Oil, Gas and/or Petrochemical industries, having held both operational facing and EPC roles. Candidates shall have experience of working closely with clients and vendors. The role is required to work under the Engineering Manager to support the execution of scopes across all Project phases (Concept to Start-up) based within our Hull office, where we recognise the value of hybrid working. Job Objectives Contributing to technical delivery of engineering excellence through: Executing assigned scopes of work Providing discipline expertise to the business. Uses technical knowledge to perform engineering assignments and produce engineering deliverables including complex problems. Creates and reviews designs, drawings, specifications, and other engineering deliverables involving both existing and new technology and applications Requires mature professional knowledge in planning and conducting assignments having scope for coordination of difficult tasks. Problems presented involve new concepts and new and varied issues that demand technical expertise, increased innovations, or considerable modifications of precedents. Contributes to the delivery of Engineering and Operational excellence through: Executing assigned scopes of work. Supporting and supervising task delegation to team. Technically competent in own discipline and actively maintains own competence according to standards and pursues continuous professional development. Provide discipline support to the business. Ensure self-awareness of relevant regulatory framework, legislation changes, initiatives and industry technology developments and promote to direct reports. Provide discipline input to scope definition and execution. Relevant experience in operational and maintenance engineering. Ability to work on own initiative and highlight areas of production risk due to equipment vulnerability. Supporting and supervising tasks delegated to direct reports. Directs preparation of appropriate engineering documentation for assigned projects, through conceptual, feasibility, FEED and EPC phases. Ensures successful completion of the assigned project/phase within the budgeted time and cost constraints. Participates in defining engineering approaches, and in planning and scheduling work Evaluates problems, organizes investigations, and establishes general performance specifications for components, equipment, systems, processes, etc. Check Engineering calculations and drawings in accordance with industry codes and standards; Assist with the development of junior technical professionals Adhere to and comply with relevant discipline specific procedures and provide feedback for continuous improvement. Establishes detailed designs and performance specifications to fulfil the requirements of assigned general specifications. Responsible for meeting discipline cost and schedule requirements in production of deliverables, coordinates own work schedule, and prepares progress reports. Recommends changes in plans and estimated cost when necessary. Participate in site visits, project review meetings, design reviews and other workshops as required. Provide technical input and support to proposals as required Working Relationships Establish and maintain effective working relationships and communicate across the project / contract interfaces. Engage with inter-discipline community and promote discipline including networking / knowledge sharing.
