We are looking for a Data Quality Analyst to establish a consistent and effective approach towards Data Quality across 1st Central. Your work will empower colleagues to understand and trust the data they use, unlocking business value. You will collaborate with Data Stewards and Data Custodians across the organisation to continuously improve Data Quality, championing the importance of high-quality data through storytelling and a practical, business-focused approach. You will enable teams to optimise and trust the data they rely on, supporting a culture of confident decision-making, innovation, and experimentation, knowing that the data is reliable and issues are actively addressed. We offer flexibility with a remote-first approach: most work from home, with occasional office visits optional. Office locations are Haywards Heath, West Sussex, and Salford Quays, Manchester, or remote applications from anywhere in the UK are welcome.
Responsibilities
* Support the delivery of the Data Quality Strategy to enable the achievement of overall business ambitions and outcomes.
* Work with Data Stewards across the business to define, document and prioritise robust Data Quality rules.
* Collaborate with IT colleagues and the wider Data and Analytics team to embed key Data Quality rules.
* Engage with Data Stewards, IT colleagues and the wider Data and Analytics team to undertake diagnostic Data Quality profiling, defect resolution, and root cause analysis to meet regulatory requirements and continuously improve data quality.
* Aid in the identification and mitigation of key Data Quality risks.
* Drive a culture of Data Quality by design, engaging and partnering with colleagues across the business.
* Facilitate and be an active member of the Data Management Group, providing clear updates on progress and surfacing key issues.
* Promote a culture of agile working, accountability, continuous improvement, and psychological safety within the team and across the business.
* Identify engaging mechanisms to communicate key Data Quality themes effectively to colleagues across the business.
* Comply with the Group Code of Conduct and Fitness and Propriety policies at all times.
* Ensure compliance with Company Policies, Values and guidelines and other relevant standards/regulations at all times.
* Storytelling & Data Advocacy: use compelling narratives to communicate the importance of Data Quality and promote a data-driven culture across the organisation.
Skills & Capabilities
* Microsoft Office Proficiency: strong Excel skills; competent in PowerPoint, Word, and Microsoft Teams for effective communication and collaboration.
* Data Tools & Technical Skills: working knowledge of SQL and Databricks is essential.
* Communication: strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to convey complex information clearly and effectively to diverse audiences.
* Time Management & Organisation: manage time effectively to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
* Pragmatic Problem Solving: practical mindset; align recommendations with business objectives and resources.
* Collaboration: work effectively with cross-functional teams to shape and agree on priorities in developing and enhancing the Data Quality framework.
* Good understanding of Data Quality, including business rule definition, diagnostic profiling, defect resolution, and root cause analysis to drive continual improvement.
* Experience in assessing and driving improvements in Data Quality; ability to translate complex information for less technical colleagues.
* Knowledge of FCA requirements (including individual responsibilities in relation to Consumer Duty).
* Experience building strong, mutually beneficial relationships across a business.
* Experience driving continual improvement through agile ways of working.
* Experience in General Insurance practices and processes is advantageous.
* Experience or interest in leveraging Data Science, Machine Learning and/or AI in Data Quality.
* Self-motivated and enthusiastic; organised yet flexible in approach; ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
* Proactive and positive attitude; can balance storytelling with data principles.
* Strong relationship management and ability to build trust with internal and external stakeholders quickly.
