Job Description:

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.

This is a permanent, full time position.

The shift pattern for this position is 5/7.

Knowledge, training and/or experience required to do the job:

The post holder will work within surgical and critical care wards, supporting the delivery of early interventions, the provision of specialist treatments and advice, and facilitating discharge planning. The successful candidate will work closely with physiotherapists, occupational therapists and the wider multi-disciplinary team. You will be required to work autonomously, but also able to escalate or request review for complex cases.

You must be flexible, innovative and a good team player. You will possess excellent communication and problem solving skills, and be keen to participate in furthering the development of the service in order to deliver high quality care for our patients.

You should have significant experience working within a health and social care setting or equivalent caring role, and hold SVQ 3 or HNC level qualification or have equivalent experience. You will have an ability to work closely with people with various health issues and care needs, including those with complex communication barriers.

Support workers will be required to achieve the mandatory Induction Standards for Healthcare Support Workers in Scotland, as well as being compliant with the Code of Conduct for Health Care Support Workers in Scotland throughout the period of employment

You should be digital literate.

There may be a requirement to provide flexible clinical cover to other areas within Clyde. A current driving licence is desirable for this post.
