Job title: Sensory Team Manager – Full time, permanent, STP&C, Lancashire term‑time | L5‑9
The Specialist Teaching Service is expanding sensory support for children with hearing, vision or multi‑sensory needs. We are seeking to appoint a Team Manager to lead a combined sensory team of Specialist Teachers across Lancashire supporting children with SEND, settings and their families. This full‑time role requires 32.5 hours across five days during term‑time.
The Role Will Consist Of
* Leading and managing a QTVI/QTMSI/QToD team of specialist teachers.
* Managing effective allocations and caseloads of the specialist teachers within the team whilst undertaking a reduced caseload themselves.
* Implementing effective monitoring and evaluation strategies within the QTVI/QTMSI/QToD team.
* Being accountable for service delivery and staff development within the QTVI/QTMSI/QToD team.
* Contributing to wider strategic Specialist Teaching Service developments through STS manager meetings and supervision.
* Ensuring a thorough and up‑to‑date knowledge of VI & deafblind / MSI best practice, specialist equipment, guidance and legislation.
* Supporting children, young people with SEND and their parents/carers within home and educational settings.
* Liaising with SENCOs, teachers and support staff within educational settings where necessary and appropriate.
* Assessing children and young people to ensure appropriate outcomes are set.
* Working in partnership with educational settings, parents & carers and other agencies to meet the outcomes outlined in Education, Health and Care Plans.
* Managing a caseload effectively.
* Using IT effectively to support both teaching and administration.

* Advocacy for the needs of children & young people who are visually impaired / deafblind / multisensory / D/deaf impaired.
* Desirable experience of successful working in both mainstream and specialist settings.
* Committed to an inclusive approach to education.
* Accountable for improving service delivery and outcomes for all children and young people.
* Either a Qualified Teacher for Visual Impairment or Multisensory Impairment, or significant SEND leadership experience.
* Evidence of working with children and young people with a range of special educational needs to ensure a high‑quality educational experience.
* Ability to work collaboratively with SEND support or those with EHCPS, their families and schools/colleges.
* Capability to provide support and challenge various settings, establishing clear actions for all partners, and evaluating progress.
* Confidence in modeling teaching approaches to staff across educational settings and raising standards for children with SEND.
