They develop, implement, and monitor safety policies, risk assessments, and compliance with legal and industry standards. By fostering a strong safety culture and promoting environmental responsibility, the HSE team plays a critical role in protecting people, reducing incidents, and supporting sustainable business practices throughout Alternative Heat.
Role Overview
The role of Environmental Officer at Alternative Heat involves supporting an industry leader in the energy‑saving sector that delivers prefabricated mechanical and electrical solutions for data centre and decarbonisation projects across Europe. The position focuses on developing, implementing, and maintaining the company’s Environmental Management System (EMS) in line with ISO 14001, ensuring daily environmental compliance, monitoring performance, and driving continual environmental improvement. The officer will ensure adherence to environmental legislation across all operating regions, maintain environmental registers, and promote a strong culture of sustainability within teams and projects. Working closely with the HSE Senior Compliance Manager, project teams, and clients, the role also involves acting as the main environmental liaison for company facilities, providing guidance and support through regular site engagement.
What You’ll be Doing
The Environmental Officer manages and develops the organisation’s EMS in line with ISO 14001, ensuring daily environmental compliance and supporting monitoring, reporting, and continuous improvement in environmental performance. The role includes ensuring compliance with environmental legislation, maintaining environmental registers (such as aspects, impacts and compliance obligations), and promoting a strong environmental culture across the organisation. The officer also acts as the main environmental contact for facilities, conducting site visits and providing guidance on environmental matters while working with project teams, clients and the HSE department to maintain a compliant and sustainable operating environment.
