Overview
Cygnet Hospital Colchester is a 59-bed service providing a range of intensive support and rehabilitation services for men with learning disabilities, autism spectrum disorders or mental health needs.
We are looking for an Activity Coordinator with a passion for delivering excellent care to develop, plan and implement activities for our patients on a full-time basis.
The role will work collaboratively to deliver holistic recovery-focused care to patients across service lines within the hospital. The focus is on building therapeutic relationships, improving motivation and engagement, and supporting patients in meaningful activity.
You will be working 40 hours per week on a rota basis and need to be flexible to cover evenings and weekends. Prior experience of working in a mental health hospital is preferable but not essential; full training will be provided and there are ongoing opportunities for professional development.
Successful applicants will need to undergo an enhanced DBS and reference checks; an offer of employment is subject to successful clearance.
In This Role, You Will
* Promote and ensure the good reputation of the Hospital, maintaining a positive attitude toward patients, their families, staff, visitors and key stakeholders.
* Be responsible for planning and facilitating activities to promote well-being and social engagement for patients.
* Support patients to create independent and focused activity plans based on their interests and goals, to improve motivation and engagement.
* Create an atmosphere and working practice aligned with the Recovery Model and Cygnet Values.
* Coproduce and implement activity programmes and prepare and maintain appropriate materials and resources.
* Accompany patients to off-site community activities as required and be able to drive hospital vehicles.
* Work collaboratively with other departments to ensure patients access all elements of their treatment.
