The Role:
We are seeking an experienced Autism Support Tutor to join our growing home tuition team.
You will provide personalised one-to-one support for pupils in the Birmingham area who have a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and may present with additional needs, including ADHD, sensory processing difficulties, anxiety, communication challenges, SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) needs, and EHCPs. The role focuses on helping pupils develop communication, social interaction, emotional regulation, independence, and engagement with learning through structured, nurturing, and autism-friendly approaches.
Work Pattern:
* Monday to Friday availability
* Minimum 2 hours per day per pupil (additional hours available)
* Opportunities across Birmingham, Sutton Coldfield, Lichfield, Harborne, Wolverhampton, and surrounding areas
Key Responsibilities:
* Deliver personalised one-to-one support tailored to individual needs and EHCP outcomes
* Implement autism-specific strategies to support communication, social development, emotional regulation, and independence
* Adapt activities and learning approaches to suit sensory and communication needs
* Build trusting and positive relationships with pupils and families
* Support pupils to develop confidence, resilience, and engagement with learning and daily routines
* Use structured approaches, visual supports, and positive behaviour strategies where appropriate
* Monitor progress and provide feedback to parents and professionals
* Create a calm, predictable, and supportive environment that promotes success
Our Ideal Candidate:
* Experience working with autistic children or young people is essential
* Teaching, tutoring, support work, mentoring, youth work, or SEN experience is highly desirable
* Strong understanding of autism and associated needs
* Experience supporting learners with SEN, SEMH, ADHD, anxiety, or additional needs
* A patient, adaptable, and nurturing approach
* Experience working in schools, alternative provisions, care settings, or home-based environments is desirable
* Driving preferred but not essential
