Forensic Consultant Psychiatrist
We are seeking a committed Forensic Consultant Psychiatrist to work in a low and medium secure hospital specialising in treating male patients aged 18+ who have been detained under the Mental Health Act (1983). This role supports extended treatment and rehabilitation at a leading UK health‑care provider.
Key Responsibilities
* Take clinical responsibility for patients, including multidisciplinary ward rounds, risk reviews, strategic reviews and the development of a therapeutic milieu.
* Act as Responsible Clinician for patients detained under the Mental Health Act (1983).
* Offer psychiatric perspective to the multidisciplinary team in assessment, formulation and treatment of patients.
* Contribute to management and clinical governance meetings for the services, and assist in developing service strategy.
* Provide in‑house training programmes and supervise other members of the multidisciplinary team, particularly junior medical staff.
* Maintain CPD and revalidation requirements, as determined by the Royal College of Psychiatrists or other statutory bodies.
Preferred Qualifications
* Innovative and imaginative with an ability to initiate corporate decisions.
* Essential understanding of current developments in psychiatry and mental health.
* Substantial knowledge of change management, relevant legislation, contemporary issues in mental health, and buyer‑provider contractual issues.
* Previous consultant experience in a management role.
