Overview
This post supports continued development of the stroke service. You will work alongside three existing Stroke Consultants as well as 3 Nurse consultants, a team of specialist stroke nurses, therapists, stroke advanced nurse practitioners, matrons, ward managers and the wider team to provide excellent care to our patients at all stages of their hospital journey. You will be involved in the delivery of acute stroke and rehabilitative stroke care. You will contribute to providing a high-quality TIA service (with dedicated MRI and Carotid Doppler provision), outpatient clinic as well as be part of our new Ambulatory Stroke Pathway. There will be an opportunity to join the regional telestroke service for out of hours thrombolysis support.
Responsibilities
* Deliver acute and rehabilitative stroke care as part of the multidisciplinary team.
* Contribute to the high-quality TIA service with dedicated MRI and Carotid Doppler provision.
* Participate in outpatient clinics and the new Ambulatory Stroke Pathway.
* Potentially join the regional telestroke service for out of hours thrombolysis support.
Working for our organisation
As a part of the Medical Directorate at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Stroke Medicine is provided at both hospital sites (Royal Preston Hospital and Chorley & South Ribble Hospital). The service includes hyper-acute and acute stroke care at RPH, emergency TIA service and stroke rehabilitation at CDH, and is closely integrated with the Neurosciences Directorate, which provides regional neurosciences for a population of 1.5 million in Lancashire and South Cumbria.
Services within this include regional neuroscience led Stroke Interventional Service with vascular neurology, Neurosurgery, Diagnostic and Interventional Neuroradiology, Neuro-critical Care and Neuro-rehabilitation.
