Overview of the role
The Senior Social Care Worker is responsible for supporting and guiding a team of social care workers, ensuring the highest level of care, and leading by example. You will liaise with senior staff in the home and report any concerns. Experience in the care sector is required, along with a willingness to learn and expand your knowledge. You will make a significant difference in people's lives and enjoy activities such as days out, trips, and other events to ensure residents are safe, happy, and fulfilled.
Key duties
* Supporting adults with learning disabilities and complex needs in a residential setting
* Supervising a team and assisting with the management of the home
* Liaising with managers and shift leaders
* Completing tasks professionally, promptly, and accurately
* Supervising mealtimes and encouraging positive attitudes towards food
* Assisting residents with daily activities inside and outside the home
* Supporting residents during activities and daily tasks using your initiative
Personal attributes
Patience, reliability, flexibility, teamwork, and good communication skills are essential qualities for a successful Senior Social Care Worker.

Location
Appletrees is a large country house supporting up to eight residents with moderate to severe learning disabilities and complex needs. Located in Upper Bucklebury, near Newbury, it offers a lively environment with activities, outings, and a dedicated day services centre called Treetops, which provides educational, arts, and sensory activities. The home has two vehicles for local travel, and residents enjoy regular outings, club nights, and weekly music sessions.
