Overview
Reliability Maintenance Engineering (RME) team at Amazon keeps vital machinery running. As an RME Technician, you’ll maintain a wide range of equipment and work spaces while upholding Health and Safety best practices. You’ll help to keep colleagues safe and prevent machine downtime, boosting equipment availability and quality and supporting the operational environment.
Responsibilities
* Proactive and preventative maintenance tasks on a wide range of site equipment
* Carry out reactive repairs and fault diagnosis in a live distribution warehouse
* Use the latest tools to maximise equipment effectiveness
* Uphold all health and safety policies and practices
* Support the development and progression of on-site apprentices
* Work on continuous improvement projects and roll out best practices across a range of EU sites
* Respond quickly to machinery issues on-site and perform planned maintenance to ensure safe operation
A day in the life
On-site technicians respond promptly to breakdowns, investigate, diagnose, and implement solutions as quickly as possible, while also contributing to long-term improvements. You’ll coordinate with senior colleagues and liaise with contractors when external expertise is required. You’ll work on a range of shifts to support sites around the clock.
About the team
Our Reliability Maintenance Engineering (RME) team keeps equipment performing at its best. We are technically minded and collaborative, maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing equipment across Amazon’s global network of fulfilment centres. The team includes leaders who oversee work on exciting technology, including systems that may be unique to Amazon.
From installing automated packaging systems to maintaining site equipment and repairing key distribution equipment, we ensure buildings are legally compliant and operating at maximum efficiency. There are opportunities for progression within the RME team and across Amazon. Our work focuses on reducing downtime so customers receive orders on time, with occasional night or early shifts to minimise disruption. We may develop and introduce new processes or advanced technology such as Amazon Robotics and the Complex Item Sorter.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
* Served a full Engineering indentured apprenticeship and/or qualified to a minimum NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in a relevant Engineering subject
* Relevant experience as a qualified engineer
* Relevant experience working in mechanical and/or electrical maintenance
* Advanced proficiency in the local language verbally and in writing
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
* Experience in condition-based monitoring
* Experience working with print and apply machines
* Experience in fault-finding and maintaining conveyor or automation systems
