This is an exciting time to join the team within Moray as we continue to expand the Geriatric services in line with the needs of an ageing population.
The vision for the geriatric model of care in Moray is to develop networks of expertise across secondary and primary care. In addition to providing inpatient care in Dr Gray’s Hospital and supporting other specialties within the hospital, we collaborate with GPs in three community hospitals across Moray, with regular multidisciplinary meetings established with GP practices. The goal is to provide proactive, accessible, and quickly reactive interventions to promote wellbeing and minimize unnecessary hospital admissions.
There are established pan-Grampian linkages to aid service delivery in areas like Movement Disorders and Stroke Medicine, with opportunities to further develop Grampian-wide relationships and care models with colleagues in Aberdeen.
This post will have a role within Dr Gray’s Hospital and/or the community. Opportunities exist to develop established services in subspecialist areas such as Frailty at the Front Door, Acute Inpatient Care, Orthogeriatrics, Surgical Liaison, Movement Disorders, Community Hospital Rehabilitation, alternatives to admission, Stroke Medicine, and Community Care models.
The current Geriatric team is flexible and willing to accommodate the needs and interests of any applicant. Our ambition is to provide a resilient service across community, front door, and inpatient settings.
We support flexible and part-time work. As we develop our frailty pathways, the post holder is expected to contribute to out-of-hours work of the frailty team. There is also an option to participate in the general medicine on-call rota for those interested, with opportunities to explore joining the OOH medical rota.
The main inpatient base is Ward 7 at Dr Gray’s Hospital, supported five days a week by Nurse Practitioners, Resident Doctors, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, and Social Workers. Out of hours, support is provided by the on-call medical team.
Full GMC registration with a license to practice is required, with the license in place prior to starting. More information is available at www.gmc-uk.org.
Applicants trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within six months of confirmed entry on the GMC Specialist Register from the interview date. Alternatively, candidates may possess a CESR / CESR (CP).
Applicants with appropriate specialist training and experience not listed on the GMC Specialist Register may be considered for a Locum Consultant position (up to 12 months) if no substantive appointment is made. During locum employment, applications for CESR / CESR (CP) and entry onto the Specialist Register can be made.
