Description

The Cambridge University Amateur Boxing Club (CUABC) fields competitive teams, including the women's Blues Squad. Our membership base consists of dedicated student-athletes ranging from beginners to experienced competitive boxers, who balance rigorous academic commitments with high-level sport. We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Women's Boxing Coach to support and develop our women's competitive boxing squad.

Job Purpose: To deliver focused, high-quality coaching specifically tailored for women boxers, fostering skill development, physical fitness, and competitive performance within a supportive and inclusive environment.

Sessions: 1-3 sessions per week during the 8-week terms (7th October-5th December, and 13th January-20th March), each session lasting approximately 1.5 hours. Sessions will include training approximately 15-20 women boxers independently, as well as one weekly session with the full Blues Squad.

Reports to: Davod Shah (Club President) for co-ordination. This does not imply managerial oversight or employment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Independently plan and lead structured women's boxing training sessions.

• Coach women boxers across all skill levels, from beginners to experienced competitors.

• Contribute to training the full Blues Squad in weekly combined sessions.

• Collaborate closely with the wider coaching team.

• Develop effective strategies for individual athlete performance, including technical skills, tactical awareness, and physical conditioning.

• Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols, including injury prevention and management.

• Prepare athletes for competitions, BUCS fixtures, Varsity, and relevant events.

• Provide mentorship, fostering a positive and disciplined training culture.

• Maintain and responsibly use equipment during sessions.

• Uphold club policies on health, safety, safeguarding, and inclusivity.

• Engage with best practices and continued professional development in coaching.

Person Specification:

• England Boxing Level 1 or 2 coaching certification.

• Experience coaching both beginners and experienced boxers.

• Strong interpersonal, motivational, and leadership abilities.

• Valid Safeguarding and First Aid certifications.

• Enhanced DBS check.

• Experience coaching university students.

• Understanding of sports science principles.

• Experience managing athletes who balance sporting commitments with academic workloads.
