Hours: 8:00-16:30 Mon-Thu; 8:00-13:30 Fri
Job Purpose
Our client is a specialist pump distributor serving the chemical, hygienic, and manufacturing industries in the United Kingdom and Ireland. The Stores Operative role is an integral part of the workshop team and plays a significant role in delivering their products to customers. The key responsibilities of the role are to assist with general workshop duties, as listed below, to help the company achieve on-time delivery and provide exceptional customer service.
Job Description:
1. Goods inward checking
2. Order picking and preparation
3. Stores control
4. Packing and despatch
5. Stock checking
6. Non-conformance recording
7. General workshop and office maintenance
Following additional training:
8. Forklift operation
9. Pump assembly and testing
10. Assembly of production order pump sets
11. Investigation and repair of returned goods
12. Pump repairs
Principal Accountabilities:
13. Assisting with goods inwards and despatch
14. Picking and storing pumps and accessories
15. Stock and inventory control
16. General workshop tasks
17. Pump assembly
18. Pressure testing of pumps
19. Inspection of pumps
N.B. This list is not exhaustive; the job holder may be required to carry out additional reasonable tasks within their level of skill and ability.
Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:
20. Qualifications: GCSEs (or equivalent) Grade C or above in Mathematics and English (desirable)
21. Skills & Knowledge: IT literate (essential); general understanding of engineering processes (desirable)
22. Experience: Experience in a warehouse or similar environment, basic engineering skills, and familiarity with using tools and equipment
23. Character: A desire to provide exceptional customer service, eagerness to assist in the continuous improvement of the organisation, ability to promote, embrace, and manage change, contribution to a positive working environment, and being an effective communicator (all essential)
Summary
The role involves assisting with day-to-day tasks, including building pumps, booking in parts, carrying out repairs, and despatching goods. Initial in-house training will be provided, with further training opportunities available with their principal pump suppliers.
