NRL’s Engineering client based in Hull is looking o recruit a Technology Mechanical Engineer to join them on a permanent staff basis.
About the role:
The Mechanical Engineer provides engineering expertise and assurance in support of safe and reliable operations, growth projects and new technology development.
1. Provide Mechanical Engineering and discipline leadership for Various plants worldwide
2. Role model company behavioural safety principles, process safety principles and lifesaving rules and influence assets to adopt these standards
3. Provide day-to-day advice and onsite TAR support in areas of mechanical design, specification, repair, maintenance, inspection and reliability in service of the safe and reliable operation of assets worldwide
4. Deliver engineering assurance to equipment specific issues in service of availability improvement at over the fence CO suppliers
5. Provide engineering advice and risk evaluation in response to breakdown or loss of containment and lead independent root cause analysis for complex failures
6. Establish and maintain contacts with key material suppliers and equipment vendors, and manage external technical support and consultancy services as required
7. Own and maintain company technical practices as requested. Stay appraised of changes in industry codes and standards
8. Conduct training and awareness presentations
9. Maintain industry networks and identify developments in mechanical and materials technologies with the potential to benefit company portfolio (Cativa, A5, SaaBre, VAM and EtAc)
10. Provide mechanical engineering skills to support major projects including both retrofit and new build opportunities to generate new value and licensing and proprietary equipment income for the business:
11. Act as custodian of the mechanical sections of any Technology Definition Package (TDP) and Engineering Manuals
12. Support the approval and maintenance of vendors on the Approved Vendor List
13. Support the supply of the proprietary Cativa equipment through design, procurement, and QA
14. Provide support to the subsequent stages of major projects such as technical queries, vendor assurance visits, construction reviews and training
15. Support materials selection and risks associated with the SaaBre commercial design
16. Provide engineering skills to support the delivery of $130M incremental EBITDA improvement 5 years through asset development Roadmaps
What you will need?
17. Degree in Mechanical Engineering Science or appropriate engineering discipline
18. Chartered Engineer
19. Experience in Mechanical Engineering in a petrochemical manufacturing environment
Technical skills
20. Proven track record of delivery and excellence including an ability to build strong collaborative relationships across organisations and with third parties such as JV partners, vendors and engineering contractors
21. Experience in equipment specification, selection, and efficient problem resolution for major capital projects, working with engineering contractors, plant engineers
22. Understanding of equipment damage mechanism identification and assessment skills
23. Knowledge of technical practices and industry codes and standards relevant to the Petrochemicals industry
24. Experience of equipment design engineering, fabrication, inspection, maintenance & repair of equipment including methods of assembly
25. Experience of vendor technical qualification and quality assurance
26. Knowledge of risk-based inspection and maintenance, failure mode effect analysis
27. Ability to advise on destructive and non-destructive testing, analysis and interpretation
28. Ability to deliver root cause failure investigation skills related to engineering problems in the petrochemical environment
29. Familiarity with procurement processes
